Unlike most commercial perfumes (which are usually made either entirely of synthetic fragrances, or mostly synthetics with only a very small percentage of natural essential oils), Earth Alkemie perfumes are only made with all natural ingredients: carrier oils, pure essential oils, absolutes, CO2 extracts, and herbs. Our perfumes contain no synthetic ingredients or fragrances.
Earth Alkemie perfumes are very concentrated: they are made at the eau de parfum concentration.
Natural perfumes are more delicate than conventional perfumes and do not linger as long on the skin. As the different notes evaporate throughout the day, the scent will unfold over time on the skin. The first notes you will smell are the top notes, and they remain on the skin for minutes to an hour or sometimes two. Middle notes are the heart of the blend and last for longer: hours. Base notes hold the scent to the skin and linger the longest, some of the last for hours and some last all day.
Paradise perfume is made with real vanilla beans. Li infused organic vanilla beans in fractionated coconut oil to create a rich, sensual smelling base for Paradise. Paradise is both light and crisp, but sultry and heady at the same time.
In her Chinese astrology perfumes, Li has combined her love of creating luxurious natural perfumes and her interests in Chinese astrology and her hertitage. Hu and Tuzi are perfumes inspired by Chinese astrology. They are made only with plants associated with their astrological signs or the sign's elements (except for the carrier oil/base). Li also crafted each perfume to capture the essence and personalities of each of the astrological signs. Hu was inspired by the Year of the Tiger, while Tuzi was crafted for the Year of the Rabbit.
Paradise is made with organic (non-certified) vanilla beans, organic (non-certified) fractionated coconut oil, organic (non-certified) basil and ginger essential oils, certified organic lemon and juniper essential oils, ethically wild harvested combava petitgrain and vertivert essential oils, and an ethically grown galbanum co2 extract.
Hu is made with the following certified organic ingredients: jojoba oil, and cedarwood, lemon, and juniper essential oils. Hu is also crafted with organic (non-certified) jasmine sambac absolute, and grapefruit and orange essential oils. Hu is formulated with a couple ethically wild harvested ingredients too: galbanum and pepper. :)
Earth Alkemie's Tuzi perfume is made with ethically wild harvested fir, pepper, and Ho wood essential oils; organic chamomile, lemon, rose, clary sage, and petitgrain essential oils; and certified organic juniper essential oil.

Hu Eau de Parfum
Pictured above: Hu grande (full size) perfume (10 ml, in blue glass roller bottle and silver cap) and Hu petite (sample size) perfume glass vial.Hu means Tiger in Mandarin Chinese. The Year of the Tiger sign is called Hu or sometimes also called Yin. Hu perfume was released last year during the Year of the Tiger.Tigers are independent and intimating, unless you are a close friend or a loved one, and then you see the softer side of this ferocious kitty. :) Like those born during the Year of the Tiger, Hu perfume starts out fierce and sharp, but as the scent develops, soft notes begin to emerge and envelopes the senses with underlying sweet notes. This perfume is not for the weak of Heart!Hu is green, floral, citrus, woody, and spicey. We use only real jasmine, carnation, and violet leaf absolutes (in most commercial perfumes, synthetic jasmine, carnation, and violet leaf scents are used because of the high cost of real jasmine, carnation, and violet leaf absolutes. Synthetic jasmine smells very harsh (compared to the real absolute) and also has a 'chemical' off note. Real carnation and violet leaf absolutes are rare, and most carnation and violet leaf scents in perfumes are synthetic or adulterated. Jasmine auriculatum absolute is very rare, and not widely available).Exotic florals, fruity citrus, cool green notes, deep woods, and hints of spices. Heart notes of sultry jasmine sambac; rare, mysterious, and deep jasmine auriculatum; sweet, exotic, honey-like spicey carnation absolute; and spring-like, grassy yet floral scented violet leaf absolute. Fierce yet dries down to a soft note.Every plant used in Hu (except for the jojoba oil) is associated with the astrological sign of the Tiger. Here are some of Li's notes about the plants used in Hu. The following information was compiled from several books or resources by Chinese astrologers:Violets are associated with the Tiger. Carnations are the flowers associated with the Tiger, and jasmine is the fragrance associated with a Tiger. Jasmine is also linked to the metal element (2010 was the Year of the Metal Tiger).Grande (full) size is 1/3 ounce (10 ml) and comes in a blue glass rollerball. Petite (sample) size comes in a glass perfume vial. Vegan.**Hu is part of our Ephemeral collection (it is a limited edition product).

Tuzi Eau de Parfum
Pictured above: Tuzi grande (full size) perfume (10 ml, in blue glass roller bottle and silver cap) and Tuzi petite (sample size) perfume glass vial.Tuzi was created for the Year of the Rabbit. Rabbit in Mandarin Chinese is 'Tuzi'. Those born in the Year of the Rabbit are clever and determined, but are not aggressive. They are strong but extremely sensitive individuals.Like Rabbits, Tuzi is a gentle, sweet perfume. All of the essential oils used in Tuzi are from plants associated with the Year of the Rabbit.Chamomile is one of the plants linked to the Year of the Rabbit. Li decided to make chamomile one of the main heart notes, since chamomile is very calming (perfect for anxious Rabbits, just like Peter Rabbit ;) )Delightful citrus, smooth green notes, and creamy vanilla balsam notes. Heart notes of sensual & heady neroli (orange blossoms), sweet, apple-like chamomile, soothing floral lavender, and just a touch of sultry, honeyed, deep damask rose. Soft, sweet, and gentle, but tenacious and distinct.Grande (full) size is 1/3 ounce (10 ml) and comes in a blue glass rollerball. Petite (sample) size comes in a glass perfume vial. Vegan--no animal ingredients.
Please read Earth Alkemie's blog for more information on Tuzi and also perfume making. :)
