Order of Application for Earth Alkemie's products:
This routine is for skin that is healthy, that requires minimal care, or to maintain problem free skin. This routine consists of only three to five steps, depending on the day. This is the routine Li, Earth Alkemie's owner and formulator, uses. For more in depth instructions on how to use each individual product please refer to our directions page.
Cleanse with an Earth Alkemie aromatherapy liquid cleanser, African black soap, aromatherapy bar soap, cleansing oil, or herbal cleanser daily, once to twice a day. Most people will need to wash their face twice a day, but some people may need to only use a cleanser at night. Many people may prefer to use our cleansing oils only a few times a week to remove makeup and impurities from the skin, however a few people may prefer to use them daily. Other people like to cleanse with a cleansing oil, and then follow with another cleanser (any of our soaps, liquid cleansers, or herbal cleansers are perfect for this!).
Exfoliate or mask: we recommend exfoliating your skin one to three times a week, and also using a mask once or twice a week. Many of our masks exfoliate and mask in one easy step, including Cinderella mask, Morning mask and scrub, and Pina colada mask. Our herbal cleansers, Heaven and Soothe, can also be used as masks too (these two products don't really exfoliate very much though).
Tone and/or hydrate with an Earth Alkemie toner. Our toners tone and hydrate in one easy step!
Seal in moisture and nourish with one of our antioxidant-rich oil based elixirs OR facial cremes. Skin needs both oils and water rich ingredients to be truly healthy. A must for all skin types; including excessively oily skin (giving your skin a little oil can help balance sebum levels and help blemished skin; certain essential oils can also balance the skin and are good for blemished skin). Use an elixir or facial creme all over the face, including around the eye area.
Some people may prefer using Uganda Buttercreme, Vanille Lavande Buttercreme, Chocolate Truffle Buttercreme, or Coconut Dreams for this step (instead of using an elixir or facial creme). Many people may also like using Chocolate Dreams or Tropical Dreams to seal in moisture and nourish (do a test patch on the jaw line with these if you have very sensitive skin).
Make sure you apply our elixirs, facial cremes, buttercremes, and dreams to damp skin (the skin should still be damp from the toning and hydrating step).
Hydrate again using our toners. This step is optional, but highly recommended if the skin is very dehydrated.
This routine is recommended for people with problematic skin, or multiple skin issues or conditions.
Remove makeup and deep cleanse: This step is optional. We suggest using an Earth Alkemie cleansing oil to remove makeup or to deep cleanse. Our herbal cleansers may also be used to deep cleanse the skin (leave them on for a minute or two, before rinsing).

*For the sealing in moisture and nourish step, you can use either an elixir or facial creme, or both! Some people like use only an elixir. Other people prefer using an elixir followed by a facial creme. And others like using only the facial creme (and no elixirs). You can also combine elixirs and use two or more elixirs at a time. Or try some of our other oil based products such as some of the the buttercremes or dreams!
As long as you use a product that contains oils/butters (that is suited to your skin type and conditions), and apply to damp skin, you can use a number of products for this step. So this step(s) will look like one of the following options:
a) elixirs only (can use one elixir or two or more)
b) facial creme only
c) elixirs (can use one elixir or two or more), followed by a facial creme
d) dreams (used all over the face)
e) dreams (used all over the face), followed by a facial creme
f) elixirs (can use one elixir or two or more), dreams (used all over the face), followed by a facial creme
g) buttercreme (used all over the face)
h) buttercreme (used all over the face), followed by a facial creme
i) elixirs (can use one elixir or two or more), buttercreme (used all over the face), followed by a facial creme
As you can see, there are many combinations you can use. I suggest misting with a toner, hydrosol, or distilled water between each step, if using more than one product. Also if you use mutiple products, use less of each product. For example usually if you use one elixir, you will use 1 to 6 drops of an elixir. But if you are using two or more elixirs at the same time, then you may want to use 1-2 drops of each elixir.
Generally we recommend our products be applied in this order: elixirs, dreams and buttercremes, facial cremes.
Eye products--Eye products coming soon!
Most of our elixirs and facial cremes can be used around the eye area. Li highly recommend Everlast Elixir (all of the ingredients are beneficial for the eye area), see the eye products page for more elixir suggestions. Some of our Buttercremes may also be used for the eye area.
Spot treatments: we recommend using Coconut Dreams or Tropical Dreams as a spot treatment. Some people may also like using Chocolate Dreams or Bliss Solaris Elixir for this step too.
Hydrate again using our toners. This step is optional, but highly recommended if the skin is very dehydrated.
Mineral makeup: optional if desired
Hydrate and set mmu: optional if desired. Use an Earth Alkemie toner or hydrosol to hydrate and set mmu.
