Why dry masks?

Earth Alkemie's masks come in a powdered form. Since they are powdered, they have a long shelf life (several months) and do not require the addition of preservatives, texturizers, or emulsifiers (to keep them from separating). In addition, they are a better value (since they are concentrated, so you are getting more of the actives instead of paying for water, texturizers, and emulsifiers).

We recommend making the mask fresh before each use. If you make more than one use then store the excess in the fridge and use within a couple days.

Dry masks can also be catered to your specific needs. Some people like applying masks in a thin layer and others prefer using thicker masks: add more water or water rich ingredients and less of the powdered mask for thinner masks, or add more of the mask and less water for thicker masks. You can also add different water and water rich ingredients that are suitable for your specific skin type or conditions (see our directions webpage for ideas!).
